Ulrik Mathisen (25) suffered a hamstring strain in Brann’s 4–2 win against Tromsø.

Brann coach Eirik Horneland confirms this to Bergensavisen.

– Unfortunately, he is probably out for a long time, says Horneland to the newspaper. The fire’s medical team will examine the injury in more detail in the coming days. It could be weeks or months on the sidelines, depending on the severity of the injury.

Mathisen became a Brann favorite last year. He was also a disturbing moment in Brann’s victory against Tromsø. Among other things, he had the goal-giving pass to Bård Finne at 2–0.

Just a quarter of an hour after scoring, in the final minutes of the first half, Mathisen had to leave with an injury.

Tromsø goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard got the ball out of the way just in front of Mathisen, but took the Brann winger with him in the same throw. Mathisen was left lying on the grass and had to leave minutes later. He may have sustained the injury while sprinting for the ball.

Bergensavisen’s expert Jonas Grønner refers to the damage as “today’s mini-crisis”.

– Let’s hope it’s not too bad. But a shame for Brann, because Mathisen looked really sprightly, says Grønner.

Brann brought Mathisen from Lillestrøm ahead of last year’s season. In the silver season 2023, he scored two goals and eight assists in 19 games in the Eliteserien.

This means that Mathisen scored one goal approximately every 100 minutes on the pitch.

Brann has been troubled by several injuries in the run-up to the season. Midfielder Felix Horn Myhre is probably also out for a few months.
