Poland will once again be among the countries that set the agenda in the EU, and the country will bet on both the relationship with the US and stronger EU integration, according to Foreign Minister Radek Sikorsi.
If NATO wants it, Poland’s president, Andzrej Duda, has stated that Poland can be used as a base for American nuclear weapons.
– If our allies decide to deploy nuclear weapons on our territory to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank, we are ready for it, says President Duda in an interview with Fakt Daily.

Warns Poland
Sergei Ryabkov, Russia’s deputy foreign minister, is punctual in his speech.
– The relevant facilities will be a military target for Russia, he warns, according to the Russian news agency Tass.
Furthermore, he rages against the politicians who discuss such an action.

Says the conflict will escalate
According to the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, the Polish authorities have not tried to hide their ambitions about how they will “cling to” the US’s deployment of nuclear weapons in Europe.
– Our impression is that Warsaw is trying to attract more attention from military planners in the Russian General Staff, she says according to Newsweek.
Zakharova threatens that Poland and its American nuclear bases will become one of Russia’s first legitimate targets if they were to carry out the plans. She describes it as a direct military provocation from NATO, and is clear that it will escalate the conflict between Russia and Ukraine into a global affair.
– If US nuclear weapons were to appear on Polish soil, the relevant facilities would immediately be put on the list for our legitimate targets in the event of a direct confrontation with NATO, says Zakharova.

The Kremlin follows suit
Poland, which is also a member of NATO, shares a border with the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad and with Belarus.
The Kremlin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, has also spoken out about Poland’s courtship.
– The military will analyze the situation. If the plans are carried out, we will take all necessary steps to ensure our own safety, he said earlier this week.
