The police in Peru have raided the home of the country’s president Dina Boluarte.

Boluarte is suspected of corruption, and around 40 police officers took part in Saturday’s action.
According to the police, there was a search for expensive Rolex watches, which the president is suspected of having received without declaring.
61-year-old Boluarte is Peru’s first female president and took office in December 2022.
The Peruvian newspaper El Comercio writes that the search of the president’s home began on Friday at 22:55 local time. This happened after a decision by Supreme Court judge Juan Carlos Checkley Soria on Thursday, the newspaper writes.
The purpose of the search warrant is registration and seizure and includes the president’s residence and a Honda registered in her name, continues El Comercio.
