Experience Sweden says in a press release that it has opened over 80 new locations in Gothenburg alone over the past couple of years.

Among the news, we find the star chef who starts a fish restaurant on one of Sweden’s most beautiful beaches and the venerable fish hall Feskekörka, which has been both newly renovated and reopens with a new concept.

Restaurant FYR

On what has been voted Sweden’s most beautiful beach several times, Tylösand, chef Jacob Holmström opens the doors to Halmstad’s new meeting place, Restaurant Fyr.

Jacob previously ran the famous Michelin restaurant Gastrologik in Stockholm, and Restaurant Fyr will be a new concept with a focus on fish and shellfish.

Here, work is done, among other things, with traditional hang tenderizing techniques for fish. The restaurant opened on the Easter weekend.

In the heart of Oskarström, an old cultural building is being brought back to life. It is My Feldt – pastry chef, chef, cafe owner, writer, artist, entrepreneur, creator and TV personality – who transforms a listed brick building from 1891 into an eatery.

The opening of Feldts on Skolberget is planned for the summer, and it will be a place with nature right around the corner and a view of the valley close by.

The guests will be served seasonal food, and in the shop you will be able to buy food and gifts designed by My herself. There are also plans for a dance floor, concerts, boule courts, a bakery and a greenhouse.

This year’s big food news in Gothenburg is the reopening of the fish hall Feskekörka, which has been under renovation for 4 years.

Here you can buy fresh fish from several fish counters and enjoy delicious dishes and drinks at the new restaurants and bars.

There will also be a stage with entertainment and one of Gothenburg’s largest outdoor dining areas at Vallgraven. Opens May 16.

Ceno at World of Volvo

The well-renowned and award-winning restaurant group Götaplatsgruppen has been selected to be responsible for the food experiences at World of Volvo in Gothenburg.

From the opening on 14 April, visitors can experience Ceno Brasserie and “dynamic dining” – a food concept that combines the Nordic and Swedish heritage with influences from around the world.

Star chef Stefan Karlsson is the creative brain behind the food and the restaurant will offer taste experiences beyond the usual from lunchtime to late evening.

Lorensbergs fish & bar is a gem in Gothenburg that opened in February. Here, a menu is offered with established classics such as fish and shellfish soup, mussels, special á la havet and prawn sandwiches.

The environment is relaxed, and the dining room is modernly furnished with Scandinavian design.

According to the restaurant itself, the motto is “to be able to deliver fresh ingredients at affordable prices”. At the moment, the evening á la carte is served, but during the spring the fish and shellfish restaurant also opens for lunch.
