Sweden: Convicted murderer Frunze Saghatelyan is at large – Kripos has been notified

Swedish police are now releasing the name and photo of the 17-year-old runaway. He is wanted across large parts of Europe.

Convicted murderer Frunze Saghatelyan was on his way to the dentist when at least two masked people helped free him from the prisoner transport.

This happened on Thursday morning in Södertälje outside Stockholm. Correctional staff were threatened with weapons.

Kripos confirms that they have received information about the wanted person:

– We have been notified of the matter. Beyond that, we are referring to the Swedish police, who must answer for their search, says communications advisor Jonas Fabritius Christoffersen in Kripos to VG.

The then 16-year-old boy was caught on surveillance cameras storming the gym. See video at the top of the case.

According to Aftonbladet, the 17-year-old has recently been sentenced for the murder of the father of three and law enforcement officer Fredrik Andersson.

It was Aftonbladet that first reported both the escape and that he is wanted.

The inmate and the two masked people left the scene in a black Mercedes, according to information to Aftonbladet.

Ulf Mossberg, press officer at Kriminalvården, tells Aftonbladet that the boy was transported under high security by several people.

He states that the 17-year-old was handcuffed during transport because of the risk of escaping.

Fredrik Andersson was shot at a training center in Vasastan last year.

The boy, now convicted of murder, was 16 at the time of the crime. In March, he was sentenced to prison for two years and eleven months. If he had been of legal age, the sentence could have been 18 years in prison.

Aftonbladet writes that the real target of the shooting was a member of the MC gang Bandidos, who was to train at the center on the same day.

It is the second time this year that an inmate has been freed by masked persons during prisoner transport in Sweden.
