Lindmo says goodbye after 25 seasons

Studio 1 at Marienlyst is filled on Wednesday afternoon with guests who will see Lindmo do what she has been doing in the spring and autumn since 2012: Get famous and unknown people to tell powerful stories.

But now it’s over. The very last edition of the talk show is broadcast on Friday.

– Actually, that’s exactly how it usually is. We have done the same job of preparing and picking top-shelf guests and getting this done. But then it’s also a little different. Because suddenly it’s the last time we’re going to do this, this dance that we know so well, says Lindmo to NTB just before the recording starts.

There have been around 350 programs and several Gullruten awards since the start in 2012.

– What do you think about the future of talk shows like this?

– I think that the good conversation will always captivate us. And then the shape will change, I’m sure of that, she says.

End of talk shows?

NRK has no plans to replace Lindmo with another talk show, entertainment editor Charlo Halvorsen told Kampanje earlier this week.

– We have had talk shows on Fridays for many years now, but there are major changes in the audience’s viewing habits from linear TV to streaming. We need to crack some codes to make talk shows more accessible in an electable world. It is certainly possible, but we have no plans for it now, he told the industry magazine.

This season, the program has had an average of 478,000 viewers, according to an overview NRK has shared with NTB. While the program on 12 January had 581,000 viewers, the figure for the penultimate program on 22 March was 394,000.

It is far from the peak in autumn 2018, when one of the programs had close to one million viewers.

– Manages important stories

Lindmo will not highlight individual guests or stories that have made a special impression since 2012, but rather highlights the experience of “managing important stories”.

– That is perhaps what always makes an impression on me: That people come here with stories that they want to share, which are some of the finest, strongest, most violent things they have experienced and which they decide to share with the larger community, says Lindmo.

– Being allowed to manage it, I will always carry that with me, she says.

The 54-year-old does not stay away from TV. She has announced that in the autumn she will start a program where she will take guests out into nature. And the podcast Lindmo and co. she also continues.

Nevertheless, it is clear that the experienced presenter experiences it as a transition that she will now be giving up as a talk show host.

She says she will miss good colleagues and “the magical anthill” in the television house at Marienlyst.

– It is a very beautiful machine with a warm heart, she says.
