“High Speed Landing”

– No reported damage to either people or aircraft. Involved agencies are in the process of graduating their crews, and the situation is back to normal, they say.

Bergensavisen first reported the incident.

– It is a plane with hydraulic problems that has made itself ready for a “high speed landing”. In practice, this means they have lost braking power, says rescue manager at the Norwegian Central Rescue Service, Vincent Roos, to BA.

The plane landed at 15:29. This is confirmed by operational manager at Flesland, Øystein Skaar, to the newspaper.

The plane was on its way to Kristiansand, and had to turn around halfway.

Sound the alarm

According to Widerøe, a “mayday” was reported, writes BA.

– I know that a “mayday” was reported, so all emergency vehicles were on the scene when the plane landed, says Widerøe’s communications manager, Catharina Solli.

Bente Arnes from Brønnøysund was on board the plane.

– I am disappointed that I lost a day with my children and grandchildren, but otherwise it was a good experience, an important lesson, says Arnes to Dagbladet.

She wasn’t afraid when the plane got into trouble.

– There was nothing to be afraid of. Widerøefligerne are extremely talented. They explained to us how they were going to fly the plane and land in Bergen with the problems that had arisen, says Arnes.
