If they do not agree, the consequence could be a big city without public transport.

Negotiator Ola Floberg hopes, however, that they will not have to strike. He has expectations of a good result.

The strike weapon is not often used by tram employees in Oslo. It is 54 years since the last time rail transport above and below ground in Oslo stopped due to a strike. That was in October 1970, and those who have lived for a while still talk about it.

The tramway strike in 1970 was declared illegal, but paved the way for many rights and supplements that the employees have today. The claim that ended in conflict at the time was remuneration for shared shifts.

Since then, clerks have been taken out on strike in the summer of 1994. Other wage settlements in Sporveien have ended without conflict.
