Premier League – England gapes

  • Manchester City – Wolverhampton 5 – 1 (3 – 0)

Erling Braut Haaland has had to endure a lot of criticism this season despite being the top scorer in the Premier League.

Roy Keane believed he played like an English level four player in the field game. But it didn’t look like that against Wolverhampton.

– Unbelievable

Jærbuen needed just 45 minutes to score his sixth hat-trick in the Premier League.

– It is completely incomparable. It is a story for a Norwegian footballer, but also for any footballer who is absolutely fierce, commented Viaplay’s Tor Ole Skullerud.

With ten minutes left, the 23-year-old was replaced.

He was clearly unhappy about that. The TV cameras caught a furious Norwegian meeting Guardiola on the touchline.

– A completely obvious dispute, pointed out Viaplay’s commentary duo Kasper Wikestad and Tor Ole Skullerud.

The BBC recorded the TV pictures with Haaland after the match.

– Were you frustrated when you were replaced after scoring four?

– It wasn’t about that. I was happy and Julian (Alvarez) scored so it was very good, said Haaland about the situation with Guardiola.

According to Sky Sports, Guardiola said that Haaland was angry with the referee’s decisions and not with his manager.

– He was a little frustrated, but I understand. He was frustrated with the referee. After the long balls, he was often pushed and pulled in. That was it, said the Spaniard.

England gapes

With Saturday’s hat-trick, the right-handed striker has achieved the feat a total of six times. Only seven players have more hat-tricks than the Norwegian.

That without the 23-year-old having completed two full seasons in the Premier League.

The words of praise are pouring in England after Haaland’s goal celebration.

– He is an animal in front of goal. He scored four goals and was furious when he left the pitch. He is a phenomenon, I love watching him play. He is built differently, says Sky Sports expert Jamie Redknapp after the match.

Sky Sports colleague Micah Richards points out that he sees an improvement in the spearhead.

– It’s overwhelming. Erling Haaland’s form has not been on par with last season, but since returning from injury he has shown more confidence. It is his game in general that I am most impressed with, points out the former Manchester City player.

Naturally enough, it is the jærbu’s name that dominates the headlines in the English tabloids.

Dream start

After just ten minutes, the 23-year-old got a hole in the boil after he started his first game from the start since mid-April.

Josko Gvardiol was brought down in the penalty area and Haaland put the penalty away safely. Ten minutes before half-time, the right-handed forward should show that he can do more than take ice-cold penalties.

The Norwegian showed his enormous resilience and doubled the lead with a lovely header.

– It is merciless, commented Viaplay’s Kasper Wikestad.

– Safety itself! Nice scoring, Viaplay’s Tor Ole Skullerud follows up. In overtime, the striker also showed off his enormous speed.

Alone with José Sa, Nelson Semedo saw no other way out than to bring down the Norwegian.

After a VAR check, the penalty mark was once again pointed to. Haaland put the ball in the same corner and it was 3-0 after the first half.

Short-lived pleasure

Just eight minutes into the second half, South Korean Hwang Hee Chan reduced the away team’s lead after a mistake from Ederson in the Manchester City cage.

Then the away fans probably witnessed a miraculous comeback.

But the joy was short-lived. The fans could barely cheer before the ball was in the net in their own half. A nice pass from Phil Foden sent Haaland through.

This time he did most of the work himself, Kilman dribbled and passed the ball over to the good foot.

The Premier League top scorer bent the ball into the far corner for his fourth of the day. He also sent that up to 25 goals in this year’s Premier League season.

Jærbuen was clearly hungry for scores this Saturday evening, because after scoring his fourth of the day he was quickly back on the midfield.

– It is difficult to remember a match where he has been as hungry for goals, writes the Manchester Evening News in its live coverage.

With just over ten minutes left, Haaland was taken off the pitch and was clearly unhappy.

Substitute Julian Alvarez scored the evening’s fifth goal after a lovely play.

Manchester City crawled up the back of Martin Ødegaard’s Arsenal and are only a point behind the team from North London, with one game less played.
