Almost a year ago, People Can Fly (Bulletstorm, Outriders) and Xbox Game Studios announced a collaboration on an upcoming game with the working title Project Maverick. We’re guessing it could still be a year or two before we hear anything official about it, but until then, the studio’s job postings are giving us some clues.

In October we reported that they are looking for employees with “knowledge and passion for RPG games” to this title, and thanks to a new round of job postings for a senior level designer, we know it’s likely to be an Unreal Engine 5-developed game that includes PvP shooter elements.

Here are some of the listed requirements:

  • Experience working with the shooter genre
  • Experience creating PVP maps
  • Experience with level design – both practice and theory (chokepoints, routes, lines of sight, engagement distances)
  • UE5 knowledge and full competence in Unreal Engine Editor

As already mentioned, you can’t expect to see Project Maverick anytime soon, but People Can Fly knows how to make fun and great action games with great depth, so we’re already looking forward to it.
