– The big clubs will come again and they will hardly be very worried about what happened in January.

That’s what Tomas Taecke says. For 12 years he has been employed as a football journalist in Belgium’s largest newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws and spends every single working day following Nusa’s team, Club Brügge, as closely as possible.

– Nusa has a contract until the summer of 2027. Is it likely that he will stay that long?, asks the VG football journalist.

– I don’t think he will be a Brugge player for that long. He himself has said that he will wait until the end of the current season to see what happens.

Football journalist in Belgium’s biggest newspaper, Het Laatste Nieuws.

Throughout his time as a football journalist, Taecke has seen youngster after youngster leave Club Brügge for large sums of money in favor of bigger clubs, often in the Premier League.

He believes Nusa should think twice if he were to consider leaving Club Brügge next summer.

– I am not sure how wise such a club change will be for Nusa now.

– I think he will benefit from an extra year here with a full season run-up, no injuries and getting to find out what to do in the moments where it’s about being determined and ending the attacks.

He refers to the numbers speaking for Nusa this season. Four goals and four assists in 40 games in all competitions.

– It is too little for a player of his caliber. His biggest problem is and has been for a while the choices he makes in front of goal.

Nusa himself acknowledged in a recent VG interview that the things Taecke points to are something he needs to get better at:

– I am a creative, playful player who lacks a bit of goals, and I want to change that, Nusa said.

Unless Nusa’s goal tally picks up sharply for the remainder of the season, Taecke hopes that the Norwegian will spend another season in Belgium, but:

– Do you still see it as possible that he can leave Belgium already in the summer?

– Yes I do. The clubs will come after him again. He is young and has great potential, and even if everything is not in front of the goal, you can see how great his potential is. He and his supporters must find out what they think is right, concludes Taecke.

Nusa himself says he neither knows nor focuses on where he will live and play football after the summer:

– How do you now see the future in Bruges?

– To be honest with you, right now I am very focused on what is happening here. We are in a playoff at the moment and that is what we are dedicating all our focus to until now.

– I actually think very little about the future during the day, I am very “happy” here in Bruges, get a lot of playing time and just want to continue this good flow. Then any choices about the future must be made when it comes to summer or when there is a need for it. Right now I don’t give it a thought.

– But everyone understands that you have big dreams that you want to achieve!

– Yes, yes. Everyone has big dreams, but I think that if you take things step by step and do things at the right time, that’s the best. Then we’ll see when that is.

The next test for Nusa and Club Brügge in the hunt for the league title is away to Genk. You can watch the match on VG+ Sport:
