Ideally, it should have been released on April 11 alongside the Prime Video premiere of the Fallout series, but the free Fallout 4 update for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series is now finally here. These next-gen versions include not only a graphical facelift and improved performance on current hardware, but also new content.

Perhaps most notable for those of us who have previously traveled the Commonwealth as the sole survivor of Shelter 111 is a new side quest called Echoes of the Pastwhere we must stop the Enclave from establishing themselves near Boston.

The Enclave (the organization formed by the descendants of high-ranking US government officials in the post-war era) is one of the most sinister and obscure organizations in the Wasteland, and their presence could mean a breakdown in the balance of power between the Institute, the Railways and the Brotherhood of Steel in the region. Their weapons and power armor are far superior to those of the rival factions…which is why we’re happy to loot them from their corpses. The update adds the following objects in game:

  • Enclave weapon skins
  • Enclave armor skin
  • Tesla weapon
  • Hellfire Servo armor
  • X-02 Servo Armor
  • Heavy incinerator

Campers will also love the new The Halloween workshop, which contains blueprints for building 38 new horror-themed decorations. Plus one Improvised weapon pack.

All the new versions launching today run at 60 frames per secondand if you play on PC via Steam you’ll also be happy to know that the game is now Steam Deck Verified.

Are you ready to return to the Wasteland and Commonwealth in Fallout 4?
