On Saturday, PSV beat Sparta Rotterdam 4-2 at home at Philips Stadium and thereby secured the league title with two rounds to go. The league championship is the club’s 25th league title, the first since the 2017/18 season.
The home supporters went off the hinges when the referee blew the match off. And in the hours after the match ended, there was a full party in the streets of Eindhoven.

But for one supporter, the party day ended in dramatic fashion. Because even before the match there was an electric atmosphere outside the arena.
A video that is now circulating on social media shows a PSV supporter suffering major injuries to his fingers after a blast explodes in his hands.

According to Algemeen Dagblad, the supporter was taken to hospital for treatment. NL Times writes that the supporter thought he was holding a flare that he had picked up from the ground.
On Monday, RTL Niuews spoke to the supporter. 49-year-old Appie says:

– I looked at my hand, but did not immediately realize how serious it was. I didn’t feel any pain until a little later, he says.
On Monday morning, he got to see the injuries he had sustained for the first time.
– I’m missing my index finger, middle finger and half a thumb. I saw the wound and I’m still bleeding quite a bit. I didn’t expect the finger to be completely gone.
Appie will now be in hospital for several days. There, he will receive a special treatment that will improve blood circulation in the injured hand.
– It’s just rubbish, he says.
