On Thursday evening, Arne Slot confirmed that he wanted to take over Liverpool after Jürgen Klopp, and said that he was just waiting for the clubs to come to an agreement.

They are about to agree, according to Lewis Steele and Sami Mokbel in the Daily Mail. Steele is the Mail’s Liverpool correspondent.

He quotes sources as saying that they expect the agreement to be in order during the weekend. It has previously been reported that Feyenoord will demand at least €10m (£8.6m) to offload Slot – but it seems the sum will be slightly higher than that.

Close to £13 million

Liverpool’s first bid was nine million euros. It is expected that the price will be closer to 13 million pounds. There will be a package that must be paid for so that he will also bring someone from the support apparatus with him.

He will bring assistant Sipke Hulshof with him, and probably Ruben Peeters, who is a central part of his support apparatus. Feyenoord will be reluctant for Slot to take the entire coaching staff with him.

When Jürgen Klopp leaves, most of his closest support staff will also leave Liverpool FC, so there will be a great need for changes in the support staff.

The case is updated.
