(West Ham – Tottenham 1–1) Tottenham could have climbed into the Champions League place, but it didn’t quite match up against neighbors West Ham.

Tuesday 2 April at 23:20

Tottenham got off to a very good start. After just over five minutes, Timo Werner played through Brennan Johnson at an empty net and the visitors were in the lead.

But the victory eluded. The home team, who have produced very inconsistent results throughout the season, managed to respond. Jarrod Bowen swung a corner into the box and with his back Kurt Zouma put the ball into the goal.

Tottenham put some pressure on in the second half, but were unable to create the big chances. The home team also had their chances to win, and a draw was all in all fair.

With a win, Tottenham would have the same number of points as Aston Villa in the important fourth place, with a two-goal win they would have overtaken them on the number of goals scored. But a fifth place can also provide a Champions League ticket. The gap to Manchester United is now nine points ahead of United’s away game against Chelsea on Thursday.

Aston Villa face Manchester City on Wednesday.

West Ham are in seventh place, a point ahead of Newcastle, who had to settle for a draw against Everton. Here are all the results:
