YMCA – HamKam – Never happened before

INTILITY (Dagbladet): It was a never-so-small wonder that YMCA was unable to score until the 89th minute in its elite series debut.

– I think we settle incredibly well into the match eventually, and in the second half I think we are a level above. We create steadily. It’s almost unbelievable that we don’t get paid earlier, YMCA coach Johannes Moesgaard told TV 2.

After the break, chances poured in, but Oslo’s only elite league team had to wait for its first goal at Norway’s highest level.

They managed to do that in the end.

Petter Nosa Dahl clicked in from distance, and scored the Oslo team’s first ever elite series scoring.

– When it goes in there, I almost get emotional. It feels so good, says Dahl to TV 2.

A score by Moses Mawa in the first half and a sparkling Markus Sandberg in the HamKam goal ensured that the visitors led 1-0 for a long time.

It was a never-so-small wonder that YMCA did not score before that.

– Have you seen?! exclaimed TV 2 expert Yaw Amankwah about the YMCA’s waste of opportunity.

– It is absolutely incredible that they have not scored their first Eliteserie goal, added colleague Peder Mørtvedt.

It was a disappointing opening for YMCA in the elite series debut. HamKam got off to a dream start, and took the lead through Moses Mawa, who in the 12th minute was ice cold alone with the goalkeeper.

– We are not satisfied with our performance. We meet a good YMCA team, but I think we play too individually and too poorly collectively, says HamKam coach Jakob Michelsen.

Both teams also had their scores disallowed after that as well.

YMCA shocked many when they managed to move up to the Eliteserien last year.

The match was played at Vålerenga’s home ground Intility, and ended the opening round in the Eliteserien.
