The rape-convicted football star Dani Alves (40) recently paid the bail sum of one million euros, so that he was temporarily released from prison in Barcelona – pending the appeal case against him.

The empire is falling apart

The former star defender was arrested in January last year, and in February was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for raping a woman in a nightclub in Barcelona in 2022.

In the wake of the release, there has been tension about what Alves’ wife Joana Sanz would do. There were reports that she wanted to divorce her husband, but now an Instagram post suggests that the duo have reconciled again.

Sanz has posted a picture of what is supposed to be her own hand and Alves’ hand, with the text:

“May this month be good, may you be stronger than you have been until today. May you feel grateful, because after all, you are here. May it be a month of giving and receiving love, a month of being at peace with and happy for all that you have fought for and will still achieve. May April be a positive month for everyone”.

Alves has explained that he had sex with the woman he was convicted of raping, but claims that it was with consent.

It was first reported that Alves could not afford to pay the bail, and afterwards the Spanish journalist Marisa Martín Blázquez has stated to Fiesta that a Brazilian magazine paid the sum of one million euros in exchange for Alves appearing for an interview.
