MARBELLA (Nettavisen): The 17-year-old stood out as one of the few flashes of light in a disappointing Rosenborg team last season. In record speed, Sverre Nypan has established itself as a key player at Lerkendal.
– You must always be confident in what you do on the pitch. It is important that we manage to regain our self-confidence and belief that we are a good team, because we are, says Nypan to Nettavisen.
Agent visit in Trondheim
Last year it became known that Nypan had entered into an agreement with star agent Rafaela Pimenta regarding a representation agreement. In an interview with Nettavisen, she described Nypan’s achievements as “spectacular”.
Together with Pimenta, the Brazilian Maxwell works as an agent. Recently, the former star back made the trip to Trondheim to meet the Nypan family.
– It was to get to know each other and chat a bit about how things are going. How it is in the club and how I feel, says Nypan about meeting one of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s best friends.
He refers to the visit as a normal meeting to maintain contact.
– I have met Maxwell twice now, but I have not yet met Pimenta, he says.
Nypan says that the Brazilian is a very calm and nice guy who knows what he’s talking about.
– When he gives advice, I am very confident that he says the right thing. It is important that I trust him.
He does not take for granted that the agent who, together with Pimenta, also represents a number of other big world stars – among them Erling Braut Haaland – chooses to travel to Trondheim on one’s errand to meet the 17-year-old.
– “Action speaks louder than words”, says Nypan quickly, proving that he also has a command of English phrases.
– They have been very adamant that they have faith, but that is easy to say. When they show it by coming to Trondheim and having a chat, I really appreciate that. You feel seen.

Shock transition made Nypan think
On deadline day in January, it became clear that the same old Lucas Bergvall was sold for a huge sum from Swedish Djurgården to Tottenham. The 17-year-old was for a long time reported as almost ready for Barcelona, but in the twelfth hour it was the Premier League club who won the battle for the great talent from Sweden in a transfer saga that sent shockwaves through Europe.
Bergvall is a player Nypan knows well.
They were both born in 2006 and have played against each other several times on the U-national team.
– He is a good player. It was no surprise that he got a big transfer. I have heard about him since we were 11-12 years old. He has always been good, says Nypan.
The Swedish great talent was being hunted by several big clubs and was visiting a bunch, according to several major media.
A similar situation can quickly arise in 17-year-old Nypan before too long.
– I feel that I am somewhat in the same boat as him. We have played a few games against each other. It’s fun and he shows that it’s possible. Then it’s for me to play well, so maybe my opportunity will come too.
– What reflections do you have about the choice he made?
– I don’t really care what choice he made. I think more about my own business. He probably chose Tottenham over Barcelona because he was promised more playing time, I heard. It can be a smart thing to go to a team where you can play. It looks like that’s what he has in mind.

Going to a big club in a top-5 league instead of an intermediate station in a smaller league is a topic that Nypan will have to reflect on at some point.
– It depends on what you need. If you look at Bergvall, it was not certain that it was necessary for him to take that intermediate step. maybe he’s good enough already. I don’t know, but I’m guessing he has thought it through thoroughly.
– Not always so easy
With increasing attention and speculation about the future, it can be a challenge to keep your head in the right place.
– It is not always easy to stay focused when there is so much talk around you. You have to think day to day and not far into the future. It’s not that important right now, he says about how he thinks before making some sort of admission.

The new coach has made his mark
This winter, Nypan has once again got a new coach in RBK. Swedish Alfred Johansson has taken over as manager.
– It has been nice, but quite hard. He sets high standards and that’s good. We know we are not where we should be, so it is good that someone comes in and makes demands. Then we have to follow suit, says Nypan.
The youngster describes an everyday life with long training sessions in the run-up where Johansson has focused a lot on the tactical aspect. He admits that there will be no time for much else but football in everyday life.
– It is a way of life. There is little time for so much else, I’ll be honest. At the same time, it is what I want to do for a living.
– Do you feel that you are sacrificing something?
– You have to, but I don’t feel it’s a problem. I am very clear about what I want and then it is a simple matter. If you were unsure about it, it could be difficult, he says and points out that he has good support from family and friends.
Although he does not have many years behind him in the RBK squad, he has noticed a difference from previous season runs.
– It has always been quite hard, but now there are special amounts of terping over small things. They are very concerned about such things. There you can see a big difference, says Nypan.
