In the alert sent out, police warn of potentially dangerous smoke and urge people to close windows and ventilation, and to stay tuned to the news for updates.

The emergency services were notified of the fire at 9.42am. 15 people were evacuated. An hour later, fire crews had the fire under control, but it then flared up again in a conveyor belt.

Fire crews from three stations are participating in the extinguishing work, and additional crews have been called.

No injured persons have been reported.

The fire first started in the reception hall for paper and then spread to the sorting hall, writes Stavanger Aftenblad.

At 11.42am, the fire service is still working to extinguish the fire, and smoke divers have entered the facility.

– It has burned well there, and the fire has not yet been extinguished. But the fire crews have control of the fire, says Rogaland fire and rescue supervisor Christer Gilberg to Aftenbladet.
