The war in Ukraine – Liza (4) killed in the missile attack

At least 23 people were killed in a Russian missile attack on the city of Vinnytsia in southwestern Ukraine, according to Ukrainian authorities.

One of three missiles crashed near a maternity clinic. Among those killed, three are said to be children.

The missile is the latest in a series of Russian long-range missile attacks on densely populated areas far from the front in the Donbas.

Four-year-old girl Liza Dmtrijeva is reported to be among those killed.

According to The Guardian, several videos have been posted on social media. These should show the girl’s last hours before the fatal attack.

The girl’s mother survived the attack, but lost a leg, according to the newspaper.

Smiling to mom

In the first clip, Liza is seen in white tights and a blue denim jacket while pushing her own pram. She smiles and looks up at her mother, Iryna, who is walking next to her.

In the next clip, the four-year-old squats at a low table and examines sheets of pictures during a language training class.

Just before 11 o’clock, mother and daughter walk along the sidewalk at the central square in Vinnytsia.

According to reports, Liza was killed a few minutes later when one of the missiles fired from a Russian submarine in the Black Sea crashed into the square.

Death in the carriage

Video footage shows Liza lying dead in the pram, which has been knocked over. Nearby is a torn foot, and a soldier extends an arm to reach the carriage. Wreckage of metal fills the space, while thick smoke rises towards the sky.

President Volodymyr Zelensky has subsequently asked the world community to refer to Russia as a terrorist state. His wife, Olena Zelenska, says she recognizes Liza from a previous occasion.

In the video Zelenska is aiming for, Liza is seen painting Christmas balls with the first lady.

– Look at her alive, please. I cry with her loved one, writes Zelenska.
