Arsenal – Luton – Most important for many years

--

The Norwegian sent Arsenal into the lead with a lovely finish. Ødegaard combined nicely with Kai Havertz, before tapping in with his left foot.

An own goal by Daiki Hashioka just before half-time saw Arsenal eventually win 2-0 over Luton.

The three points mean that Arsenal now lead the Premier League with one game more played than Liverpool. They play against Sheffield United on Thursday.

– One of the most important breakthroughs in many, many years (for Arsenal), says Viaplay commentator Kasper Wikestad.

Arsenal’s stoppers William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes contributed to the fact that the hosts were largely in control throughout, but experts were a little shocked when they gave away an opportunity just before the end.

– You almost squirm when you see Arsenal’s stoppers make mistakes, because they are so phenomenal, said Viaplay’s Lars Tjærnås.

Benched stars

Declan Rice and Gabriel Martinelli were on the bench for tonight’s key game against Luton. Rice has been one of Arsenal’s best this season and got a few minutes on the eve of the match.

Another key player – Bukayo Saka – was not in the squad. The Briton has recently struggled with an injury.

The team made a total of five changes from the Manchester City game at the weekend, which caused a stir among pundits.

– Could be cause for concern, said Viaplay expert Lars Tjærnås about the changes.

Apparently it wasn’t. Arsenal are one point ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City at the time of writing.

The London team will face Brighton away on Saturday. Bayern Munich await the quarter-finals of the Champions League at home on Tuesday.
