Fire in an apartment block in Bergen
The emergency services have responded to a fire in an apartment block on Nattland in Bergen. The fire has gone through the roof, so it is not under control yet.
At 11.31 pm, 110 Vest reports that the fire service has extinguished the fire, but that there has been no report of an on-site inspection. The roof structure is still burning.
– At 10.37pm we received a report of heavy smoke. The fire brigade has arrived and they have started with external extinguishing, says duty commander in the 110 central Jostein Steinsland Hauge.
Pictures from the first car in front showed flames, he says.
– Regarding the flat where the fire has occurred, it is unclear whether there are people there, says operations manager Dan Erik Johannessen in the West police district
There is a risk of spreading. There is a lot of wind in the area.
– The fire service has initiated life-saving efforts in case there are people inside, says Steinsland Hauge.
The fire brigade has moved out from Fana, Sandviken, Laksevåg and the main station.
NRK’s reporter at the scene says there is a full fire at the scene.
– We started evacuation in the block in question, as well as nearby blocks as soon as we got here, says Johannessen.
It is too early to say anything about the cause of the fire.
