Richard Gadd, who created the series and plays the lead role, has been clear that “Baby Reindeer” is based on his own experiences of being stalked and abused.

But the success has meant that many have started to dig into history to try to find out the real identity of the perpetrators. Now the comedian wants them to stop doing it.

– Please, stop speculating about who these people really are. That is not the point of our series, writes Richard Gadd on Instagram.

Gadd, who is an ambassador for an organization that helps male victims of sexual abuse, explains that people in his circle have been affected by all the speculation.

Grandiosa is at its cheapest in years! When we checked the price of classic Grandiosa in Norwegian grocery stores last week, the price was NOK 59.90. Yesterday Extra dumped the prices, and the others followed suit.

“Baby Reindeer” is about the comedian Donny, who one day gets to know the woman Martha. She quickly becomes completely obsessed with him, and won’t leave him alone.

The series is based on Gadd’s one-man show from the stage, and on his website he describes how one single act of kindness leads to hundreds of messages and 40,000 emails.

The series was released on 11 April on Netflix, and has become a critically acclaimed audience success on the streaming service. The Swedish director Josephine Nornebusch is behind the seven episodes.

– Stalking on TV tends to be highly sexualised. But stalking is a mental disorder. I really wanted to show the many layers of stalking and that with a humanity I have not seen on TV before, Richard Gadd has stated to Tudum – an event which deals with the streaming giant’s original series and films.
