Here is the British aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth on its way into the Oslofjord – Dagsavisen

On Monday, a group of British vessels including the aircraft carrier HMS “Queen Elizabeth” arrived in Oslo. This is the first time the flagship of the British Navy has visited Norway.

At 08.00 the British vessel group passed Moss. They were then accompanied by a number of Norwegian ships, including from the Coast Guard and the police.

A few hours later it docked outside Akershus fortress.

The Prime Minister will be on board

According to a press release from the Norwegian Armed Forces, the visit to Oslo takes place in connection with the British military operation Operation Achillean, which takes place in cooperation with NATO allied countries.

According to the plan, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støres will visit the aircraft carrier on Monday evening. There, among other things, he will meet the crew on board.

It is not known how long the ship will be docked in Oslo. It will not be open to anyone other than invited guests.

– While the ship is visiting Oslo, several meetings and conversations about further cooperation will be held. As part of the visit to Oslo, two frigates, a destroyer and a supply ship will also arrive, writes the Norwegian Defense Forces.

HMS “Queen Elizabeth”

• The first ship of the Queen Elizabeth class and the largest ship ever built for the British Navy (Royal Navy).
• It was christened by Queen Elizabeth II on 4 July 2014 and entered service with the fleet on 7 December 2017.
• The aircraft carrier can have up to 1,600 people on board when the flight departments are fully manned.
• The ship has Portsmouth in England as its home port.
