This week, the bishop of Oslo, Kari Veiteberg, visited three of the district’s congregations, Voksen, Røa and Sørkedalen. A visit is about visiting the congregation and local community, where the church is, and then it includes meeting the district’s management. On Wednesday morning, the leader of the borough election, Yngvar Husebye, and the borough director, Ellen Oldereid, and several others from the borough, and the bishop with her entourage, met each other for talks about what we can create together in, with loneliness and children and young people as the theme.

In addition to talking together, the representatives from the district and the church were able to visit Hovseter with lunch at Hovstua, as well as a tour of the new extension at Hovseter school, which will also accommodate flexible premises for the youth club and library.

– We have had good conversations between the bishop, the provost, the congregations and the district about the challenges and opportunities we see ahead of us. Many people in the district are doing very well, but many also feel loneliness, restlessness and alienation. This applies to both young and old. We must cooperate in every possible way to create good local communities where everyone comes along and feels included, says district leader Yngvar A. Husebye.
