Man arrested and charged with rape of minor in Innlandet – NRK Innlandet – Local news, TV and radio

Police attorney Håvard Hopperstad Hildeskor at the Innlandet police district, says it is early in the investigation.

– He is in custody because of the risk of tampering with evidence. It is early in the investigation, but we believe we have apprehended the perpetrator. We do not rule out that we may eventually ask for an extension of the detention, he says.

The accused does not plead guilty. This is what the defender, lawyer Jostein Løken, says.

– My client pleads not guilty. But at the same time he understands that the police must investigate the case and has therefore agreed to remand, says Løken.

The man has been imprisoned for two weeks with a ban on letters and visits.

The prison meeting on Saturday took place as a so-called office business without the accused being present.

Was arrested on Friday

According to a ruling from the Østre Innlandet District Court, the man was arrested at 2.16pm on Friday.

The police do not want to say anything about where and when the alleged rape should have taken place.

– It is because we are early in the investigation and want to withhold some information due to the risk of evidence being tampered with. What I can say is that we have had a good collaboration with the child protection agency, who reacted resolutely when they received information, says Hopperstad Hildeskor.

The man is charged under sections 292, 291 and 302 of the Criminal Code. They all deal with sexual abuse.

The Østre Innlandet District Court believes there is reasonable cause for suspicion against the man. This means that they believe it is more likely that he is guilty than not guilty of the charge.
