Politics, District Nordstrand | Here MDG-Einy dances and “eats” rubber granules: – The message is important

--

In a blue party dress, in front of a mountain of, among other things, rubber granules, at the north end of the temporary stadium of the YMCA in Ekeberg, Nordstrand MDG politician Einy Langmoen dances.

The video that was published on TikTok on the night of Wednesday 8 May is causing attention on both the video platform and on Facebook.

– You can call me a TikTok profile, laughs Langmoen.

On Facebook, the video has garnered a lot of praise. The MDG profiles and married couple Lan Marie Nguyen Berg and Eivind Trædal write, among other things, “This is one of the best things I’ve seen! Einy, you are a star!” and “Great debut!”, while MDG leader Arild Hermstad says it’s incredibly cool.

However, the video is not just made for fun, the idea behind it is far more serious, Langmoen tells Nordstrands Blad.

– Disclaimer

– In the previous city council meeting, Kjelsås IL received a dispensation to use rubber granules in the artificial grass when Grefsen Stadium is to be rehabilitated.

It was the Conservative Party and the Labor Party that secured a majority. It is absolutely appalling, considering the extensive problem plastic pollution poses.

In Oslo, there is actually a ban on rubber granules, and the European Commission adopted in September 2023 a ban on microplastics with a transition period of eight years. In practice, this means that it will be prohibited to sell rubber granules from 15 October 2031. Langmoen believes that the use must be stopped and that microplastics can now be found everywhere. She refers to a study from the University of Mexico where 62 placentas were tested for traces of microscopic pieces of plastic. Traces of plastic were found in all of them. Forskning.no has discussed the case, among other things.

– I believe that the city council parties who voted for this are just closing their eyes to reality. I know that a completely good substitute for rubber granules has not yet been found and that work is being done to find a solution, but such a dispensation only delays this work. We don’t have time for that.

She continues:

– This is a disclaimer.

Say yes to more videos

Langmoen says that they received an internal call in the party to move out on TikTok.

– I had never used this app before, so I had to look through what it was for. Then I discovered that there were a lot of dance videos there.

Langmoen, who says that she herself is very fond of music and dance, therefore hatched the idea of reaching out with her message with a dance video. It was all immortalized by Kristoffer Kjelling behind the camera, while Johannes Brodwall assisted in the production.

– I am very new and this may be amateurish, but I think it was fun to try it out. So the message in the video is the most important thing for me to get across.

– Do you encourage others to use dance videos to promote politics?

– Absolutely! Feel free to steal the idea from me. Make a thousand TikTok videos with important messages, she laughs.

Langmoen says that she has put a lot of work behind the video.

– I edited it for hours. At one point I thought it had been deleted, because I couldn’t find it again, so I was planning to film another one today.

– Will there be more such videos from you now?

I can’t say no to that. I’m probably not going to make videos where I just dance, the message is the most important thing, but it was certainly fun, she laughs.
