On Wednesday evening, the police went to the Vår frelser’s cemetery in Akersveien on St. Hanshaugen in connection with the fact that a man in his 50s had been stabbed in the upper body.

The man appears to be seriously injured and has been taken to hospital.

– He was conscious but seriously injured when we arrived at the scene, says task leader Erik Hestvik.

– The incident happened inside the cemetery, before the journey went out into Akersveien, says Hestvik.

The stabbing must have happened outdoors, according to the police.

A perpetrator must have left the scene. The police are now searching for the person with several patrols and a police helicopter. Areas near Aker church and Akersveien are closed. The police are interviewing witnesses in the area and carrying out technical investigations and searches with a dog.

Aftenposten has spoken to a witness who says he saw a man in black clothes “waving a knife” and lunging at another person.

“The information the police have indicates that there is some type of relationship or acquaintance between the victim and the perpetrator. It currently does not appear to be a random act. As of now, we have no concrete suspects”, writes Oslo police’s operations management at 21.19.

– We are working on the basis that there was a conflict between two people. There is nothing to indicate that this is a random act, but I cannot say what kind of relationship the two had, says Hestvik at the scene.

He cannot comment on whether the perpetrator has been identified, but says that the police have good information to work from.

The police reported the incident at 9.10pm.

– It was a witness who came to the scene and reported it, operations manager Bjørn Gunnar Nysæter in the Oslo police district tells NTB.
