A video of a violent incident at Dal station in Eidsvoll is spreading on social media.

The video shows a fight between a bus driver and another person. A short distance into the video, the two collide and the driver falls to the ground.

He then stands up, and takes out an object from his pocket.

When the other person sees this, he starts running, with the bus driver behind him, before the latter stops shortly afterwards.

The police informed VG on Tuesday that they reported the incident themselves, after receiving the video from a witness.

The bus driver is currently suspected of threats with a knife or other object, section leader for investigation Hege Cecilie Kvam told VG on Wednesday morning.

– It is only based on what we see on the outside of the bus, we do not know the cause. The driver’s status as a suspect will be assessed continuously when we get more information. We cannot rule out that the other party will be suspected in the case.

Romerikes Blad has spoken to a witness who says she is absolutely certain that the object was a knife. Section leader Kvam says the police have not concluded that it is a knife shown in the video.

Kvam says they have been in contact with the bus driver, who came to the police on his own. The police began questioning him on Tuesday afternoon.

The police do not yet know how the bus driver reacts to the suspicion. When VG spoke to the police at 2pm on Wednesday, he had not been appointed a defender.

Who the other person in the video is is currently unknown to the police.

– He has not been identified, nor has he reported himself. We want tips from the public if anyone knows who he is.

Police: Don’t share

The video in question has already been widely shared on social media. The police advise the public not to share the video further.

– We try to tell young people not to share videos of violent episodes. To share is to participate, said police chief in the East police district, Gunnar Foseid to VG on Tuesday morning.

He reminds that it is a criminal offense to share such recordings.

– The video exposes two people who have not asked to have their faces spread in public. We advise people to delete the video.

Vy: – Didn’t have a ticket

Collective company Ruter states that the episode happened before 7pm on Monday.

The driver is employed by Vy Buss, which operates the route.

– The video probably only shows fragments of the course of events, says press guard at Ruter Øystein Dahl Johansen to VG.

Vy bus has reported the incident to Ruter. The company has started securing video material from the bus, which will be handed over to the police.

– Our driver says that there was a person who wanted to get on the bus who did not have a ticket, says communications manager at Vy Åge-Christoffer Lundeby to VG.

An argument then allegedly arose between the driver and the other.

VG does not know the identity of any of the people involved, but has tried to get in touch with the bus driver through Vy.

They do not want to pass on VG’s inquiry as the man is on sick leave.

The driver is tight-lipped

Communications manager Lundeby says the driver has explained something about the incident.

– The driver got off the bus and is said to have explained that he was spat on and punched. That’s what I know about basketball itself.

– Have you asked the driver how the fight ended?

– The driver has been very tight-lipped about the incident. He is on sick leave and will be followed up if he needs assistance.

Section leader Kvam in the police says they do not have a comprehensive overview of what has happened, and that she therefore cannot confirm Vy’s information about the motive.

Lundeby says that Vy Buss leaves it to the police to find out what has happened and whether anything criminal has taken place.
