Former NRK anchor Einar Lunde warns other elderly people in Aftenposten not to be deceived by salesmen from Norway’s largest electricity supplier, Fortum.
He ended up paying many thousands extra for additional services that were added to the electricity bill.
– It is absolutely incredible that they let me pay for such services at all. It feels like pure robbery! says Lunde to Aftenposten.
It was an expensive lesson for the 81-year-old who went on this “bang” for three years. Lunde eventually received NOK 1,000 in compensation. Aftenposten has also spoken to two others in the same case. Fortum will not go into detail about the cases in the media, but business manager Ole Kroken says, among other things:
– First of all, we must apologize that they are left with a negative experience. We naturally want customers to make good and informed choices.
According to the Consumer Council, these additional services (such as “Safe everyday”, “Green choice”, “ID guard” and “Price freeze”) are unnecessary.

– We know that they are actively pushed on customers, preferably over the phone. They are often free for a trial period. But then they become part of the electricity bill and disappear from the consciousness of many, says the Consumer Council’s director Inger Lise Blyverket to the newspaper.
She describes the services as “expensive throughout” and something they do not recommend.
Fortum rejects the criticism.
