The timetable cracked so it sang. There will now be an extra municipal council meeting before the summer.
THE DRAMA: Even after the meeting entered its fifth hour and into overtime on Tuesday night, there was no hope. Long discussions (and less successful poetry stunts) relating to refugees, camera surveillance and spatial plans which have also been widely debated in the past, effectively ate up the time.
So did votes and discussions related to (in)capacity and some technical problems which did not make the matter any easier – and when the meeting should actually have finished, only a small number of the cases had been dealt with.
– I think we can now state that we are on the verge of a huge blow in terms of the number of cases, was the message from deputy mayor Ulf Erik Knudsen, who took to the podium with a note on the agenda.
A little later came the message from mayor Kjell Arne Hermansen: There will be an extraordinary municipal council meeting to reach the goal before the last ordinary municipal council meeting before the holidays in June.
The date for the meeting has not yet been set.
