NOW the electric G-Class is ready for ordering in Norway – prices revealed

--

The G series in electric version is now ready for order after the announcement at the end of April.

The most expensive model at over NOK 2 million will arrive this year

– With its eternal charm and character, the G-Class has dominated both roads and paths for 45 years. Now, Mercedes-Benz takes the icon further into the electric age, with ground-breaking technology and off-road capabilities that satisfy the demands of any G-Class enthusiast. We expect great interest when we soon open up orders for our legendary model in new electric guise, stated Thorbjørn Myrhaug, director of Mercedes-Benz Norway, at Bertel O. Steen at the time.

The battery capacity is 116 kWt, which gives the electric G-Class with Norwegian standard equipment a range of up to 468 kilometers according to the WLTP standard. The battery is strategically integrated into the vehicle’s frame structure, which results in a low center of gravity and which helps to make the car more rigid. Furthermore, the battery is placed within a protective cabinet to protect against water and dirt.

Mercedes

  • Up to 100 percent climbing ability on suitable surfaces
  • Ground clearance between the axles of at least 250 mm
  • Maximum wading depth of 850 mm in water and mud
  • Stable driving on side slopes of up to 35°
  • Entry and exit angles of 32° and 30.7° Break angle of 20.3°

The Norwegian prices are now clear (excl. delivery):

  • G 580: NOK 1,733,000
  • G 580 Edition One: NOK 2,336,000

It is the Edition One that will arrive in 2024, and as you can see, the price increase is due to a good deal of extra equipment: “The first cars available in 2024 will be the G 580 Edition One. This is a well-equipped special model that is only produced for a limited period. Externally, the car is equipped with, among other things, AMG exterior, night package, black 20” AMG rims, sunroof and KEYLESS-GO. Inside you will find SUPERIOR Line interior, Burmester surround sound system, comfort package, electric seats with massage, ENERGIZING package and much more.

The Edition One stands out further with unique customizations that include, among other things, a blue strip in the outer protective strip, blue brake calipers, Edition One logos, interior details with blue stitching and carbon moldings with blue details.”

Specifications, G580:

Mercedes on steering technology

The off-road characteristics of the G-Class have always been of the highest standards, and this continues with the new electric G-Class. Exclusive to this are G-TURN, G-STEERING and G-ROAR. With the former, the driver can turn the electric G-Class almost on the spot. The car performs up to two complete turning operations in the desired direction on loose surfaces. This not only looks spectacular, but it can also be helpful when driving off-road.

With G-STEERING, the turning circle of the new electric G-Class can be significantly reduced when driving off-road or when driving on loose surfaces. This is achieved by controlling the torque individually on each wheel, where the car turns around the innermost rear wheel. This function is active at speeds of up to 25 km/h, and gives a great advantage in, for example, tight bends.

G-ROAR adds a unique sound experience to the new electric G-Class. This distinctive driving sound is inspired by the powerful V8 engines from the model series, and creates an impressive acoustic effect during acceleration with a deep and rich bass. The sound stands out markedly from other electric models from Mercedes-Benz, and gives the vehicle a distinct and recognizable character.”
