National Championships in street racing will be held on 11 May in the center of Oslo

--

The capital, specifically the shortest route around Akershus fortress, will be the arena for the National Championship in street racing on Saturday. There, the athletes will set maximum speed from the start, because with a competition time of less than an hour, there is little time to settle for the gold.

The 1.7 kilometer track around the fortress has sharp bends, cobblestone sections and exciting duels. Several Norwegian pros have won gold in the Norwegian street racing championship, including Sven Erik Bystrøm, Susanne Andersen and Martin Bugge Urianstad, to name a few.

The street race has a start and finish at Akershusstranda, specifically where the cruise ships often dock, right by Rådhusplassen.

Joint start in Maridalen on Sunday

If you are not one of the 220 registered and therefore more excited to see the joint start race, you can make the trip to Maridalen on Sunday, where the Uno-X Norgescup takes place.

– The interest in the rides among the participants is great among the active, and many say they are looking forward to being able to ride in the capital. We hope to create a real cycling party, says Michalsen, aimed at cyclists who want to show off.

The route will cover familiar terrain for Oslo’s many cyclists. The ride will follow Greveveien, i.e. the hilly road that runs all the way east in Maridalen. It also passes through the somewhat flatter Gamle Maridalsvei.

Few of the local heroes will experience the round as hard, but at riding speed the many hills are more than enough to separate the cyclists from each other.

The different classes have the following start and race times on Saturday:

Men junior: 13.00 – 45 minutes plus three rounds

Women junior: 14.10 – 30 minutes plus three rounds

Women senior: 15.15 – 45 minutes plus three rounds

Men senior: 16.30 – 60 minutes plus three rounds

The different classes have the following start and ride times on Sunday:

Women senior and women junior: 8am, seven rounds

Men junior: 11 a.m., seven rounds

Men senior: 14.00, ten rounds

The ride in Maridalen affects traffic. The bus will turn around at Hammeren, and walkers will not have access to the area by car. There is parking at Låkeberget.

The route will be completely open between 10.15-11.00 and 13.15-14.00. The race is expected to be finished between 17.30 and 18.00.

This case has been written with the help of AI, and checked by Landevei’s journalist.
