Syvertsen has worked for 16 years in the company, which is now called Å Energi, and has held several management roles before becoming CEO. Å Energi is the result of the merger between Glitre Energi and Agder Energi, and Norway’s largest power group with operations in the entire value chain from production to consumer.

The election of a new chairman took place during Fornybar Norge’s general meeting. Syvertsen thanks you for the trust and is looking forward to taking on the new tasks.

– Norway needs more renewable energy and more networks if we are to achieve our ambitions and climate commitments. The new industries we will live from in the future must run on clean energy, says Syvertsen.

– Renewable Norway represents the companies that will lay the foundations for a renewable future. Under Åslaug Haga’s leadership, the industry has gained a clear and competent voice that actively participates in the debate about what is needed for Norway to succeed with the green shift, he says.

– I look forward to working together with Åslaug and the new board to further develop and strengthen Renewable Norway in the future, says Syvertsen, and at the same time uses the opportunity to thank the outgoing board chairman, Finn Bjørn Ruyter, for his efforts.

A clear voice in the energy debate

Chairman of the selection committee, CEO Eimund Nygaard i Lyse, is very pleased with the election of Syvertsen as the new chairman of Fornybar Norge.

– Steffen Syvertsen has long and broad experience from the renewables industry and has distinguished himself as a clear voice in the energy debate. We are very happy that he has agreed to become chairman of Fornybar Norge. The organization plays a very important role in facilitating an absolutely necessary energy transition, on a level with people and nature, says Nygaard.

Syvertsen acknowledges that he will be chairman of an organization that represents an industry with reputational challenges. He believes that the industry must take its share of the responsibility that it has become this way.

– The renewables industry and industry live in a shared destiny that is important for safety, competitiveness, jobs and the climate. The industry cannot grow without removing emissions, and they cannot remove emissions without more renewable power, he says.

– This connection between power, industry, jobs and climate must be understood by the renewable industry, the industry, politicians and the general public. It is our responsibility to bring out this connection, adds Syvertsen.

Other changes in Renewable Norway’s board

During the general meeting, the board of Fornybar Norge also received four other new members:

  • Anne Nysæther, CEO of Elvia
  • Siri Espedal Kindem, head of renewable energy at Equinor
  • Semming Semmingsen, CEO of Troms Kraft
  • Arnstein Flaskerud, CEO of Elmera Group

Group CEO Ståle Gjersvold in TrønderEnergi was re-elected as deputy chairman of the board. The same applies to board member Olav Rommetveit from Zephyr and deputy member Gunlaug Egeland from Varanger Kraftentreprenør.

Board members Bjørg Brestad from Valdres Energi, Tove Hartnes Fosså from Fusa Kraftlag, Birgitte Ringstad Vartdal from Statkraft and deputy member Ida Texmo Prytz from Nordkraft were not up for election. The chairman, four board members and one deputy member step down after the end of their term.
