HAUGESUND: This is what Haugesund municipality and Nav write in a press release.

From and including 10.00, the emergency services will carry out a so-called PLIVO exercise (“ongoing life-threatening violence”) in the center of Haugesund.

– For those in the area, there will be visible armed police in the streets. Loose shots will be used during the exercise, so the sound of shots can be heard. Harmless smoke may arise during the exercise, writes Haugesund municipality and Nav.

– PLIVO incidents are one of the most difficult things service personnel can face, which is why they practice precisely this, it says to read on.

It is only a little over a month since the emergency services carried out a similar exercise in the Edda cinema.

Instructors must inform the audience

The background for this type of exercise stretches back to 2015, when a new national procedure for the cooperation of the emergency services in ongoing life-threatening violence (PLIVO) was presented.

The procedure is a collaboration between the police, the fire and rescue service and the health service, and will form the basis for improved national preparedness where life-threatening violence is perpetrated against several people. The development of the procedure is a follow-up after the events of 22 July 2011.

Through the upcoming exercise in Haugesund, the emergency services will become familiar with NAV’s premises.

The training area will be marked with signs, and there will be instructors strategically placed to provide information to the public.
