It doesn’t take much sun before the sweat starts to trickle down the foreheads of those dressed in fur coats on National Day. Therefore, the latest update on the weather on 17 May can be said to be good news for those dressed in wool.
– It is likely to be a good temperature across the whole country – not too cold, not too hot. National Day is likely to have average May weather, meteorologist on duty at the Meteorological Institute Sigrid Auganæs tells Dagbladet.
– Precipitation is very unstable in the spring, and it is particularly difficult for us to say anything about so long before 17 May, she says.
Least risk of rain in the north
Based on today’s forecasts, it is Western Norway, northern Trøndelag and southern Nordland that have the greatest chance of precipitation on 17 May.
– Currently, there is the least chance of precipitation on National Day in Troms and Finnmark. Even with a slight chance of precipitation throughout southern Norway, right up to Nordland and the Helgeland coast.
– But it is too early to say anything for sure, emphasizes the meteorologist.
Blood red alert: Heavy spread
Cold in the north
Precipitation is not the only thing missing in the north either, so do the temperatures.
– In Tromsø, the temperature can reach 10 degrees, but can also be as low as 4 degrees.
Ice cream spill
It is in Stavanger that there is the greatest danger of melted ice cream on party clothes, as the temperature there can reach as high as 20 degrees, if the best weather forecast is correct.
– But it can be as low as nine degrees in Stavanger, says the meteorologist.
Oslo gets somewhere between 9 and 16 degrees. Bergen gets between 8 and 15 degrees. A little more acidic in Trondheim; where it will be between 8 and 13 degrees. In Kristiansand it is likely to be between 8 and 15 degrees.
– We will probably have to wait until the week before we can choose a weather winner on 17 May. At the same time, it may be that the whole of southern Norway gets up to 20 degrees, but with local variations that are determined by cloud cover and precipitation, says Auganæs.
