On Sunday afternoon, Morten Ivarsen – like many others – was on his way to Sandvikvåg to take the ferry to Halhjem. Two kilometers before the ferry quay, he sped off.

– I was in the middle of a bend, and didn’t realize anything when a car came whizzing past me. Fortunately, there was no oncoming car then.

Ivarsen’s car is equipped with a camera and filmed the incident.

– Then put it back out to drive past the next one, and then a car will meet. We stayed in our car, and the oncoming car had to swerve to the side to avoid a collision.

He hopes the video can help scare people away from attempting such overtaking.

– It was a miracle that it went well. If the police had seen this, the driver would have lost his driver’s license on the spot, believes Ivarsen.

BT has been in contact with the driver of the car.

– I have seen the video, and see that I have caused a scary situation for others and that it may not have been a completely correct overtaking, says the driver.
