– It is special to give children high expectations. Children are disappointed.
This is what a clearly disappointed Edel Smedholen tells Sunnmørsposten. She is the guardian of a pupil in the 7th grade and thinks it is special to initiate a process, and then cancel it due to poor finances.
The reason is that Spjelkavik primary school cannot afford to send the students by bus round trip to Aksla stadium. This information was given one week before the event is to be held.
Demanding economy
Principal Tor Arne Aasen at Spjelkavik primary school replies that there is a very demanding economy.
– It is the case that there is no money for this type of measure. With the current economy, we have to manage money for statutory measures.
According to Smedholen, there should be a bus bill of NOK 4,000-5,000 in total.
– This is a matter of healthy physical upbringing, so it is particularly bad that the economy should come at the expense of it.
– From an economic point of view, the numbers speak for themselves, we cannot afford to prioritize this. It’s sad for everyone, says the principal.
Splice
On Friday, it was decided between parents and FAU that a Spleis should be established. It sped things up.
– Via the splice, we collected money that could cover the bus trip. So now grade 7 fortunately gets to participate in this year’s Tine relay, informs Smedholen.
– What do you think about parents creating a gap for such relationships?
– We gave them free rein to create a joint, but we were clear that we would not encourage this, replies the headmaster and adds:
– If I had a magic wand, I would of course have sent the 7th step on the Tine relay.
