In the TVNorge series “Boundlessly in love”, viewers have been given an insight into the relationship between Norwegian AnneMa Yuvali (63) and her Turkish husband Dündar Yuvali (30).
– Never stop fighting
After they got in touch online four years ago, their love has grown ever stronger, but the couple has also faced many obstacles along the way.
In addition to incitement and bullying online, their joint future has been on hold, because Dündar has had his application for family reunification rejected several times.
Will be heard
On Monday, the couple’s trial against the Immigration Service (UNE) started in the Oslo district court.
– We are back to a distance relationship
– We are adults who have chosen each other as true spouses. We are looking forward to hopefully being heard in court as people, and not as a series of numbers on a piece of paper, says AnneMa.
The Arendal woman had never imagined finding happiness in Turkey. The marriage of the 33-year-younger Turk may seem unusual, but AnneMa points out that no one else has anything to do with their love.
If the judge agrees with AnneMa and Dündar, the latter will be granted residence and can finally move in with his wife in Arendal.
– I am preparing for a yes, and think that it could be a no. If the answer is no, then there is only one more step up. We fight on! We have no intention of stopping. We will take it all the way to the Human Rights Court in Strasbourg if necessary, says AnneMa firmly.
Accused of lying
Se og Hør has seen the rejection that Dündar has received. It is justified, among other things, by the fact that the marriage was only entered into so that he would obtain a residence permit in Norway.
– I get furious because we are not believed! They think we are lying. In court, we will only tell the truth. It is not that difficult. The authorities bear the burden of proof. They have to prove that the marriage is “fake”, and we will show them that they are dead wrong.
While others she knows have had their loved ones come to Norway a long time ago, AnneMa’s husband has been refused time and time again. She believes that more people react to the age difference, but that it would not have been considered problematic if she were a man.
– This is gender discrimination and age discrimination! I should have been a man, old men get young wives to Norway because they can produce children. I have two children with master’s degrees, and really feel that I have contributed to Norway’s population, says AnneMa.
Must testify from Turkey
Due to the refusals, Dündar cannot come to Norway. He will testify via video link in the courtroom.
Several of his family and friends have been called in as witnesses, and a Turkish producer from the “Boundlessly in love” production will tell about his meetings with the couple.
To show that they have nothing to hide, AnneMa has also obtained the conversation log from Messenger. Four years of daily conversations are put forward to prove that what they have together is true love.
Reveals plans: – Our dream
Live with the loss
For AnneMa, it hurts to share something so private, but she sees no other way out. For four years, the nail designer from Arendal has lived with uncertainty, grief and loss.
Each rejection has felt like a stab in the heart, and each time she has gone straight to Dündar for comfort and support.
– These years have been absolutely terrible! I’m pretty sure I’ve aged 10 years just in the last two years. This is the worst struggle I’ve been through in my life, says AnneMa despairingly.
She has cleaned and washed the whole house in the hope that her husband will soon be in place. The couple look forward to doing normal things together, and now also share a religion after the 63-year-old recently converted to Islam.
– Now we have the same religion, and it feels good. I converted on the first day of Ramadan, says Yuvali.
Regardless of the outcome in the district court, the married couple want to be together and support each other. The day after the trial, the TV profile takes the first flight to Turkey, and will spend three weeks with her husband in Alanya.
– The great hope that we can travel back to Norway together. Most likely I will have to return alone, but it would have been wonderful to go down the flight stairs with Dündar at Gardermoen.
