The self-proclaimed communist and newly elected leader of Red Youth, Amrit Kaur (21) from Drammen, made very controversial statements on a TikTok video after she was arrested in a Palestine demonstration in Oslo.
DRAMMEN/OSLO: In the video, Kaur calls Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg, central bank chief Nicolai Tangen and US president Joe Biden terrorists, among others.
– Terrorists are not called Ahmed or Mohammed, terrorists wear suits and ties, and terrorists they are called Netanyahu, Biden, Støre, Stoltenberg or Tangen, says Kaur in the video.
The RU leader told Nettavisen on Friday evening that she regretted having called Støre a terrorist, but would not withdraw the accusations against the others.
After massive political pressure, including demands for an apology from Rødt leader Marie Sneve Martinussen, Kaur on Saturday deleted the video and made the following message on Facebook:
– It was a derailment to call someone a terrorist. I apologize for that.
However, Kaur follows up with the following claims in the same message:
– Norway is an active promoter of the genocide against the Palestinian people. It is time to talk about how Norway earns a fortune from terrorizing the entire third world, it is time to talk about how Norwegian politicians consider brown lives of less value while proudly calling themselves anti-racists.
In the relevant TikTok video from Kaur, she has also signed with the following hashtag: “From the River to the sea, Palestine will be free” – a phrase that implies support for Hamas’s ideology of annihilating Israel.
Despite strong opposition also from leading politicians in her own parent party, Kaur has also received support, including from Rødt politician Sofia Rana in Oslo, who has https://twitter.com/sofiarana82/status/1786692958420386190?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet.
