The knife incident happened at Nationaltheatret subway station on Wednesday afternoon at 5.45pm. One person suffered stab wounds to an arm and was treated for minor injuries by an ambulance at the scene.

The accused ran after three boys in the direction of Slottsbakken armed with knives. There he was arrested by armed police.

– He is not able to allow himself to be questioned today, says police attorney Trine Elisabeth Selnes to NTB on Thursday afternoon.

– He is being cared for in the health track, and there is currently no possibility of a prison meeting, she says further.

The situation was first defined by the police as ongoing life-threatening violence (PLIVO). Later, this was downgraded to “ordinarily sharp mission”, and the police do not perceive it as an attempt at terrorism.

The man must be produced for a preliminary examination, a preliminary assessment which will clarify whether it is necessary to carry out a full forensic psychiatric examination.

The accused has been appointed lawyer Berit Reiss-Andersen as his defender.

– I have no comment and no basis to speak on behalf of the client, writes Reiss-Andersen in an SMS to NTB.
