This is to avoid increased traffic and poorer accessibility for the buses on the county roads, which are currently used by the various main bus routes in the area and transport to and from Oslo, they write in a letter to the National Road Administration.
Bærum municipality also wants the electric cars to still be able to drive in the public transport lane.
As you know, the Swedish Road Administration has decided to remove access for electric cars in the public transport lane on the E-18 with effect from Monday 6 May.
Asker municipality disagrees with the Swedish Road Administration’s proposed measures and has asked in a letter to the Swedish Road Administration that electric cars are still allowed in the public transport lane on the E-18 up to Slependen/Sandvika, states the municipality in a consultation statement to the Swedish Road Administration.

And the municipality writes in a press release that there are big differences in how this will affect Asker and Bærum municipalities and which part of the road system is used by the central bus lines to and from Oslo.
– In Bærum, a large number of the bus routes go on the E18, and will benefit from better accessibility on the E18. For Asker, this is not the case. Of the regular buses in Asker, only 250E use the collective lane on E18. Remaining routes use the county road network (Kirkeveien/Slemmestadveien/Fekjan/Billingstadsletta) up to Slependen. This could result in an increased number of cars and pressure on these roads, which would then negatively affect public transport in Asker, which is not the purpose of the measure adopted by the Norwegian Road Administration, writes the municipality in a press release.
