The Green Party has a national meeting in Fornebu this coming weekend. Here, Berg will announce that she will not take another four years in the Storting. This is written by Dagens Næringsliv.

– It feels sad, and it has been a long process for me. But I am also sure that this is right now, says Berg to DN.

She also says that she had informed the election committee that nominated her for the position of Deputy Speaker that she would not stand for another term in the Storting.

According to the newspaper, she challenged the committee on whether they wanted to find someone else, but that they still opted for her.

If she is re-elected as deputy leader of the party, she will resign from office after a year, the newspaper writes.

Her press contact, Nora Selnæs, writes in a text message to Aftenposten that Berg has nothing more to add than what she has said in the interview with DN.

– She is highly motivated for the election campaign and will continue to be parliamentary leader and deputy leader of the party for another year and a half, writes Selnæs.

– After 10 years as a top politician, she wants to open up to doing other things, writes the press contact.

Berg did not want to stand as a leadership candidate when Une Bastholm resigned in 2022. She explained to Aftenposten that her commercial career in politics had been a shock. She joined the party in 2014. In a few years she became one of the most high-profile and controversial politicians in Norway.

Another reason was the strain she experienced after her daughter was born in 2019. Berg was on sick leave both after the 2019 and 2021 elections.

The case is updated.
