– The police have launched a search for a 90-year-old man. He is missing from his residence. The man should wear a light jacket with green inserts, brown trousers and black shoes. He is described as having a slightly forward-leaning gait, the police write on Twitter/X.

The man is missing from the Helgerød area, and the police have set up a base at Helgerød school.

Police operations manager Ottar Steinsbø tells Sandefjords Blad that the man has been missing since 9 o’clock on Thursday morning.

Missing for several hours

– The family spent some time looking for the man themselves, before they reported him missing to us at 1pm. There have been no sightings of the man since he disappeared from his residence, says Steinsbø.

The operations manager says that large forces have been deployed in the search for the man.

– Searches are being carried out, among other things, with drones and helicopters in the area, he says.

Volunteers are also helping in the search for the man.

Today’s second

The search operation is today’s second in Sandefjord. Earlier today, a search operation was launched for two 11-year-old girls. Fortunately, the girls were found after a relatively short time.

– The girls were found safe in the area around Preståsen. They are looked after by their closest relatives, says police station chief in Sandefjord Siw Thokle.
