A man in his 40s has been sentenced to a fine of NOK 15,000 after he handed out handwritten notes with the address of a BDSM website to random children last year.
Tuesday 30 April at 20:08It was in August and September last year that the man drove around on his electric unicycle in a municipality in Rogaland and handed out the notes with the address of the BDSM website and his profile name on the website.
According to the judgment from Sør-Rogaland district court, the man contacted several girls and handed out the notes. One of the girls was 15 at the time, while another was 16.
The police became aware of the case when the parents of several teenage girls contacted them about the notes in August last year.
When the case went to the district court last week, the man admitted to having handed out around 30 handwritten notes to girls he met. He said the idea was to give the notes to girls over 18, but admitted it was difficult to know the age of the girls. He explained in court that the purpose was to advertise the website and he thought it was all innocent.
The court convicted the man of indecent behavior towards children under the age of 16 and indecent behavior towards someone who has not consented to it. The penalty was a fine of NOK 15,000.
He was also charged with possession of material showing abuse of children, but he was acquitted of this in court.
