For me, Gothenburg has long been associated only with floorball and the Gothia Cup. That has now changed. Last week hacked Vink editors a trip to Gothenburg.

On the train, our restaurant reviewer Erik had bought all the delicious cheeses, hams, bread and olives on sale. And of course some bubbles. We lived centrally and could stroll wherever we wanted. Two days is the perfect time to explore Gothenburg.

I have a friend who is going there this weekend. These are the places I have suggested:

  • Tizne is a Mexican fine dining restaurant. Here I tasted dishes I’ve never had before and take with me lots of fun facts about tequila (no, the one with the hat is not real stuff) and mezcal. Very fun!
  • French Ma Cuisine is perfect for both lunch and dinner. A down-to-earth place with a really nice atmosphere. We drank an Arnaud Baillot Saint-Aubin premier cru from Burgundy that made news manager Øystein gape.
  • Grano is perfect if you crave tapas and really good pizza. The charming restaurant Bulot is only 10 minutes away for a pre- or post-meal drink.

During these Gothenburg days, I also learned that I’m really bad at Swedish and that karaoke is definitely funnier when you can wear a clown suit and a long-haired, black wig, like at The Melody Club.

And there are more tips, but there will be too much to write about here. Maybe we should make a more comprehensive guide to Gothenburg? Please send me an email if this is desirable! We also welcome suggestions for other good destinations that are a few hours away from Oslo.

If you don’t get to go to Gothenburg, there are still several things to cheer for in Oslo this weekend:
