On Wednesday morning, several places in Gudbrandsdalen reported people hearing a big bang.

In the group “Det sker, Gausdal”, Viktoria Østerberg asks what it was that slammed.

– I know someone heard it at Svatsum, says Østerberg, who heard a bang around 10.10.

In the comments section, someone mentions that their house on Tretten shook. Several have replied that it must have been a plane that broke the sound barrier. The head of communications in the Air Force, Eivind Byre, can deny that.

– We haven’t had any planes in Gudbrandsdalen today, he says.

Terje Hansen from Vingnes is convinced that this must have been a plane.

– I was standing on my stairs and heard a real bang, the plane also flew on over Saksumsdalen and disappeared. Nobody can tell me anything other than that this was a plane, says Hansen, who has previously been in the defense and has heard these sounds before.

Not something the police are aware of

The police have not received any reports about the sound either.

– No, it is not something we are familiar with, says operations manager at Innlandet police district, Frode Øverås.

Hanne Stine Kind, communications advisor for Cyber Defence, has also checked up on the matter at the request of GD.

– Those bangs are not something we know about, says Kind.

On the E6 near Fåberg, there is blasting work in the past. Lars Wadahl, sub-project manager for roads and tunnels at AF Gruppen, explains that they have come a long way into the tunnel.

– We had a blast today. It was around 10.20 and once earlier in the day. We blow up every day, so then they should have heard it for several months, says Wadahl.

The blasting work was therefore several minutes after people heard the bang.

There are no clear earthquake measurements in the area on Wednesday morning. Nor has there been a thunderstorm, according to the meteorologists’ lightning map.

According to the flight radar, there was a KLM flight over Gudbrandsdalen in the time period en route from Amsterdam to Trondheim. In addition, there was a Hercules aircraft in the area during the time period.

At 12.32, another loud bang was heard at Lillehammer.

So what could it have been? Do you have any idea what could create such a big bang that it can be heard in Gausdal and that it shakes houses in Tretten?
