This weekend the stage was set for the St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll charity race in Nashville, USA. Among those who lined the starting line was the 26-year-old star chef Joey Fecci.
A few days after the race, Fecci’s family now shares the tragic news that the star chef died after the marathon.
Defying pain – shows up for the start
“It is with unbearable and immense sadness that we share that our dear and beloved Joey passed to the other side on Saturday, April 27,” the family said in a statement.
They describe him as “a bright light of inspiration and positivity” for all who were lucky enough to meet him.
“He was a precious son, brother, lover and friend to so many. He leaves behind a heartbroken family who love him so much,” the family continues.
According to the New York Post, the 26-year-old died after running four hours in the marathon, which raises money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. According to the newspaper, the family states that Fecci was not unconscious when he was found in Shelby park.
Drank 25 glasses
Healthcare personnel must have performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and provided emergency medical assistance. Fecci was taken to a nearby hospital, but his life could not be saved.
The cause of death is not yet known.
Among other things, Joey Fecci has worked at restaurant Per Se and the famous Michelin restaurant Spiaggia Italia. According to ABC News, he currently worked at restaurant Yolan at The Joseph Hotel in Nashville.
