Compact crossover

The news from BYD comes on a continuous basis. Now a new model is ready – Dolphin – a compact crossover with an attractive price tag.

Dolphin is the fourth passenger car BYD launches on the Norwegian market after Tang, Han and Atto 3, and the first in the Ocean series.

Dolphin is a compact electric car which, according to OFV, measures 429 cm in length, it is 177 cm wide and protrudes 157 cm above the asphalt. A wheelbase of 270 cm should ensure good interior space and comfort. Curb weight without driver is 1,658 kg and payload 335 kg.

The car has a battery pack of 60.4 kWt which, under optimal conditions, should give a range of 427 kilometres. It supports 3-phase charging of up to 11 kW and can be fast-charged at up to 88 kW so that you fill the battery from 30 to 100 percent in half an hour.

Front wheel drive

Should it be a guitar riff?

The engine drives the front wheels with a maximum output of 150 kW (204 hp) and a maximum torque of 228 Nm. According to OFV, it does zero to hundred in 7 seconds and has a top speed of 160 km/h.

Dolphin is launched in two equipment variants on the Norwegian market; Comfort and Design.

The importer promises a stylish and futuristic interior with thoughtful solutions including black sports seats covered in vegan leather. The front seats have six-way electric adjustment for the driver and four-way electric adjustment for the passenger. The rear seat backs can be folded down in a ratio of 60:40, which gives a luggage compartment of 345 to 1310 litres.

The equipment list includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 12.6-inch touchscreen, 360-degree camera, three Isofix mounts, front and rear parking sensors and high beam assistant.

The design variant also comes with a large panoramic sunroof, wireless mobile charger, dirty rear windows and Vehicle-to-load (V2L) adapter, as well as the option of a two-tone exterior.

Ready for a test drive

– The combination of spaciousness, a high quality feeling and a competitive price makes the BYD Dolphin the ideal car for a wide target group. The car should provide premium quality at affordable prices, says Simen Wøien Christensen, sales manager at BYD Norway.

The Comfort edition has a starting price of NOK 299,900, while you have to add NOK 10,000 if you want the Design edition.

Pre-sales start now, with delivery from April. Dealers will have display vehicles ready for test drives in the coming weeks.
