The Norwegian-Moroccan is charged with attempted murder in a Moroccan case.

This is reported by Dagens Næringsliv (DN), which writes that the man has also been charged in Norway with having smuggled 251 kilograms of cocaine and five tonnes of cannabis.

The arrest, on the other hand, does not have a background in drug crime, but what is supposed to be an attempted murder with a knife in Morocco.

Both DN and Aftenposten write that the man is suspected of being a very central figure in a large drug network in Norway.

According to Aftenposten, the man has been convicted several times in Norway, most recently in 2017. When the case was due for appeal, the man did not appear.

– He has evaded punishment by fleeing Norway, says police prosecutor Nora Pedersen in Kripos to Aftenposten.

After the man left Norway, he has been wanted by Interpol, writes DN.

– We want him extradited to Norway, but he is a Moroccan citizen, and Morocco does not extradite its own citizens, says state attorney Marit Formo.

However, due to the missing extradition agreement, Pedersen in Kripos says the following:

– It is therefore not relevant to have the accused extradited to Norway. However, we have good cooperation with the Moroccan police and we are now investigating the possibility of traveling to Morocco to carry out some more investigative steps.
